परिचयIntroduction
अगर शाब्दिक अर्थ की बात करें तो अंग्रेजी भाषा के शब्द फ्रीलांसर (freelancer) में फ्री का अर्थ है स्वतंत्र और लांसर का अर्थ है भालाधारी सैनिक।
If we talk about the literal meaning, then in the English language word freelancer, free means free and lancer means javelin or spear-wielding soldier.
यूरोप में मध्य युग में फ्रीलांसर शब्द ऐसे स्वतंत्र भालाधारी सैनिक के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता था जो किसी एक राजा का सैनिक नहीं होता था, बल्कि जो उसे धन देता था वह उस राजा के लिए लड़ता था।
In Europe in the Middle Ages the term freelancer was used to refer to a free spear-wielding soldier who was not a soldier of a king, but who fought for that king who gave him money.
बाद में यह शब्द पत्रकारिता में आ गया। इस प्रकार पत्रकारिता में फ्रीलांसर या फ्रीलांस राइटर एक ऐसा लेखक होता है जो किसी एक प्रकाशन के लिए किसी स्थायी कर्मचारी के रूप में प्रतिबद्ध नहीं होता है। वह किसी संस्थान का कर्मचारी नहीं होता है, बल्कि वह किसी ग्राहक या प्रकाशन संस्थान की जरूरत या दिए गए प्रोजेक्ट के आधार पर काम करता है।
Later this word came in journalism. Thus in journalism a freelancer or freelance writer is a writer who is not committed to a single publication as a permanent employee. He is not an employee of any institution rather he works on the basis of the need or given project of a client or publishing institution.
फ्रीलांस राइटर स्वरोजगार आधार पर काम करता है। वह किसी एक प्रकाशक के लिए भी काम कर सकता है, लेकिन ज्यादातर वह एक समय में कई प्रकाशकों के लिए लिखने का काम करता है।
Freelance writer works on self-employment basis. He may also work for a single publisher, but most often he works for multiple publishers at the same time.
फ्रीलांस राइटर को हम ‘स्वतंत्र कारोबार स्वामी’ भी कह सकते हैं।

फ्रीलांस राइटिंग या स्वतंत्र लेखन रचनात्मक और तकनीकी हो सकता है, लेकिन दोनों में ही यह छोटी अवधि की प्रतिबद्धता होती है। रचनात्मक लेखन में पहले लेखक लिखता है और उसके बाद प्रकाशक ढूंढता है, जबकि तकनीकी लेखन में किसी प्रोजेक्ट के लिए पहले लेखक चुना जाता है और उसके बाद लेखन का कार्य होता है।
Freelance writing can be creative and technical, but both involve a short-term commitment. In creative writing, the author first writes and then the publisher is found, whereas in technical writing, the author is selected first for a project and then the task of writing takes place.
स्वतंत्र लेखकों की जरूरतFreelance writers needed
1. स्वतंत्र लेखकों की जरूरत इसलिए पड़ती है क्योंकि विशिष्ट विषयों पर लिखने के लिए प्रत्येक प्रकाशन संस्थान के पास पूर्णकालिक लेखक नहीं होते हैं।
