समाज में पत्रकारिता की भूमिका
समाज में पत्रकारिता का बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है।
पत्रकारिता व्यक्ति और समाज के जीवन को गहराई से प्रभावित करती है।
निम्नलिखित बिंदुओं से हम समाज में पत्रकारिता की भूमिका
को रेखांकित कर सकते हैं-
Journalism has
a very important place in society. Journalism deeply influences the life of a
person and society.
From the following
points we can underscore the role of journalism in society-
1- समाज और जीवन का अनिवार्य अंग-
·
पत्रकारिता समाज और जीवन के अनिवार्य अंग के रूप में
स्वीकार्य है।
·
उसकी प्रामाणिकता और विश्वसनीयता किसी अन्य व्यवसाय से
ज्यादा है।
· पत्रकारिता असहायों को संबल, पीड़ितों को सुख, अज्ञानियों को ज्ञान और घमंडी शासक को सद्बुद्धि देने का काम करती है।
The essential part of society and life

of society and life.

Its authenticity and credibility is more
than any other
prffession.

Journalism works to give support to the helpless,
happiness to the sufferers, knowledge to the ignorant and good sense to the
arrogant rular.
2- परिवेश से परिचित कराती है-
· पत्रकारिता जहां लोगों को उनके आसपास के वातावरण (परिवेश) से परिचित कराती है, वहीं वह उनके होने और जीने में सहायक बनती है।

पत्रकारिता साहित्य की भाँति समाज में चलने वाली

वह हमारे परिवेश में घट रही प्रत्येक सूचना को हम तक
पहुंचाती है।

यह देश-दुनिया में हो रहे नए प्रयोगो और गतिविधियों के
बारे में हमें बताती है।
· इसी कारण विद्वानों ने पत्रकारिता को ‘शीघ्रता में लिखा गया इतिहास’ भी कहा है।

For this reason, the scholars have also
called the journalism as a ‘history written in a hurry’.
5- दूरदृष्टि प्रदान करती है-

पत्रकारिता पूरे विश्व के लिए ऐसी देन है जो सभी को दूरदृष्टि
प्रदान करती है।
· वास्तव में हर क्षण परिवर्तनशील दुनिया का दर्शन पत्रकारिता के जरिये ही संभव है।

6- मानव जीवन के परिदृश्य को समेटे
है-

पत्रकारिता सूचनाओं और समाचारों का संकलन मात्र न होकर
मानव जीवन के व्यापक परिदृश्य को अपने आप में समाहित किए है।
· यह नैतिक और सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों को समसामयिक घटनाचक्र की कसौटी पर कसने का साधन बन गई है।

of journalistic information and news, but the comprehensive perspective of
human life has been incorporated in itself.

It has become an instrument to tighten the moral and cultural values at the criterion
of contemporary phenomena.
7- संघर्ष का प्रतीक है-
·
पत्रकारिता संघर्ष का प्रतीक है। पत्रकारिता को बड़ी से
बड़ी चुनौती का सामना करने में सक्षम माना जाता है। इसीलिए प्रख्यात शायर अकबर
इलाहाबादी ने लिखा है– खींचो न कमानों को, न तलवार निकालो जब तोप मुकाबिल
हो तो अखबार निकालो।

जेम्स मैकडोनल्ड के अनुसार पत्रकारिता को मैं रणभूमि से
भी ज्यादा बड़ी चीज समझता हूं। यह कोई पेशा नहीं वरन पेशे से ऊंची कोई चीज है। यह
एक जीवन है, जिस पर मैंने
अपने को स्वेच्छापूर्वक समर्पित किया।

Journalism is a symbol of struggle.
Journalism is believed to be capable of facing the greatest challenge. That is
why the eminent Shayer Akbar Allahabadi has written – “Do not pull the bow, nor
take the sword, when the cannon in front then publish the newspaper.”
·
According to James McDonald, I consider
journalism as something far bigger than the battlefield. This is not a
profession but there is something higher than the profession. It is a life, on
which I dedicate myself voluntarily.
8- पत्रकार की सामाजिक भूमिका
·
विद्वानों ने एक पत्रकार की जो सामाजिक जिम्मेदारियां
बताई हैं, उनसे हमें यह पता चलता है कि समाज में पत्रकारिता की कितनी महत्वपूर्ण
भूमिका है।
·
एक पत्रकार की जिम्मेदारियों में उसकी ‘सामाजिक
जिम्मेदारी’ को सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता पर रखा गया है, क्योंकि पत्रकारिता को समाज का
दर्पण कहा गया है।
·
एक पत्रकार मानव समाज के प्रवक्ता की भांति काम करता है।
इसीलिए पत्रकार से अपेक्षा की जाती है कि वह घटनाओं का इस प्रकार से सच्चा, समझ
में आने योग्य और विवेकपूर्ण विवरण प्रस्तुत करे, जिससे समाज उसका कोई अर्थ जान
सके।

पत्रकार तथ्य और अपनी राय को स्पष्ट रूप से अलग-अलग करे।
·
पत्रकारिता समाज की टिप्पणियों और आलोचना के मंच की तरह
काम करे।
· पत्रकार को पाठकों और समाज के विभिन्न संगठनों के बीच दोतरफा संवाद के प्रभावी माध्यम के रूप में काम करना चाहिए।
Social role of journalist
The
most important thing to understand about journalism is that its entire purpose
is to serve the citizens-all the citizens-of a democratic society. When we keep
that in mind, we can better understand some of the more specific roles
journalism plays.
The
social responsibility of journalist is of paramount importance. It is now well
recognized that “journalism is the mirror of society.” Joutrnalist acts as a
spolesman of mankind. He must therefore, provide a truthful, comprehensive, and
intelligent account of the events in a context that gives meaning. Facts and
opinions must be clearly differentiated by that effective sieve called
“objectivity.”
The
press must serve as a forum for the exchange of comment and criticism. The
journalist should act as an effective medium for two way communication between
readersw and different organizationsof the society.
In today’s world, journalism becomes as essential
as our daily needs. Media of today is playing an outstanding role in creating
and shaping of public opinion and strengthening of society.
Journalism or Media is the sword arm of
democracy. Journalism acts as watchdog to protect public interest against
malpractice and create public awareness. Today when politicians are taking full
advantage of their positions, an evil nexus of mafia and crime syndicate is
making the life of the common man miserable, taxpayer’s money is siphoned out
for the personal gain of the influential and ordinary people are a mere
spectator- journalism has a grater responsibility. As the fourth pillar of
democracy along with judiciary, executive and legislature, journalism of today
has an all embracing role to act against the injustice, oppression, misdeeds
and partiality of our society.
Fight against various problems
Journalism helps in fighting against corruption, nepotism, cronyism of
institutional machinery and carrying out relentless campaign against them. Way
back in independent India from the Mundra case to the jeep scandal to the
hawala case to the kickbacks received in different defense deals- Indian media
performs commendably in exposing the corrupted highly placed statesman.
In recent scams from commonwealth to 2G, exposed
thanks to television and print media, media acted as a catalyst to government
action compelling government to swing into action including suspending
ministers and putting ministers into jail. Who can forget the crusade taken by
Indian media in the Nirbhaya rape case and shaping the public opinion in one of
the most heinous crimes the world has ever witnessed. Without media, the news
of government schemes and benefits would have never reached the target audience.
9- पत्रकारिता के उद्देश्यों से पता
चलता है समाज में उसका महत्व
पत्रकारिता के उद्देश्यों पर नजर डालें तो समाज में
पत्रकारिता की भूमिका को हम और भी अच्छे से समझ सकते हैं- अगर एक वाक्य में कहें
तो सूचना देना, शिक्षित करना और मनोरंजन करना पत्रकारिता का उद्देश्य है।
पत्रकारिता के उद्देश्यों को हम निम्न प्रकार भी प्रस्तुत कर सकते हैं।

समाज की सेवा

जनता को जागरूक करना
·
तत्कालीन युग और समय की जानकारी देना
·
नागरिकों को उनके अधिकारों और कर्तव्यों का बोध कराना
·
राष्ट्रीय लोक चेतना को बढ़ावा देना

समाज के विचारों का संवहन करना
·
समाज को नई दिशा दिखाना
·
समाज का ज्ञानवर्धन करना
·
समाज का मनोरंजन करना
इस प्रकार हम कह सकते हैं कि
समाज में पत्रकारिता का स्थान बहुत महत्वपूर्ण और ऊंचा है।
भारत के नवें राष्ट्रपति डॉ. शंकरदयाल शर्मा ने कहा था कि- “पत्रकारिता एक पेशा नहीं है बल्कि यह तो जनता (समाज) की सेवा का माध्यम है। पत्रकारों को केवल घटनाओं का विवरण ही पेश नहीं करना चाहिए, आम जनता के सामने उसका विश्लेषण भी करना चाहिए। पत्रकारों पर लोकतांत्रिक परम्पराओं की रक्षा करने और शांति एवं भाईचारा बनाए रखने की भी जिम्मेदारी आती है।”
Objectives of journalism shows its importance in society
If we look at the objectives of journalism, then we can understand the
role of journalism in society better. If it is said in one sentence- informing,
educating and entertaining is the purpose of journalism. We can also present
the objectives of journalism as follows.
· Service of the society
· Making the
public aware
· Gives information about the era and contemporary
time
· Aware citizens to their rights and duties
· Promote national public consciousness
· Conducting ideas of society
· Shows new direction to society
· Enlightenment of the society
· Entertain society
In this way we can say that the place of
journalism in society is very important and high.
The 9th President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma had said that "Journalism is not a profession but it is the medium of service of the people (society). Journalists should not only present details of events, should also analyze them in front of the general public. It is also the responsibility of the journalists to protect democratic traditions and maintain peace and brotherhood. "
